New Patient Educational Seminars

This is an opportunity for you and your family and/or support person to meet your bariatric surgeon, learn more about bariatric surgery and weight loss options available at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital. Before becoming a bariatric surgery patient, attendance at one of the free bariatric surgery seminars is required. They offer information to potential candidates about the health benefits of weight loss surgery.  Bariatric surgeons Robert Woodbury, MD, and Allen Cortez, MD, host our local seminars and are on-hand to answer any questions.

All patients seeking bariatric surgery with Dr. Robert Woodbury and his team, Allen Cortez MD, Danielle Daye NP, Randi Naquin NP, and Shannon Todd NP at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital and the Sutter Bariatric Clinic, must start by attending one of the local free Patient Education Seminars listed below.  At the seminar you will learn about the disease of obesity and the role of surgery in treatment. All the information about the program and getting started is at the patient education seminar.

The Sutter Santa Rosa bariatric Patient Education Seminars are only held in Rohnert Park, Petaluma, and Napa.  All patients must attend one of these seminars, even if your primary physician has already made a referral.

Please go online and sign up for one of the seminars at Rohnert Park, Petaluma, or Napa via this link: Click on “Sign up to Attend a Free Information Session" and locate either Rohnert Park, Petaluma or Napa.

After attending the Patient Education Seminar you will receive a call from the Sutter bariatric clinic to book your surgery consultation. Once you have had a consult with your surgeon, and are in the program, you may be referred to Healthy Steps for monthly nutrition visits, psychology and exercise assessments.  Please note that Healthy Steps is separate from the surgeon’s offices and the bariatric nurse practitioner clinic.  We have no control over you getting your consultation with your surgeon.

Sutter Santa Rosa Bariatric Support Group

At Healthy Steps Bariatric and Metabolic Center we believe strongly that support groups are important to a patient’s long-term health and success after bariatric surgery. As such, we recommend participation in regular support group meetings.

Sonoma County Weight Loss Surgery Support Group:

Sonoma County “RNY” Weight Loss Surgery Support Group is an independent group of patients who are either awaiting, considering, or have already undergone bariatric surgery. Throughout the year there are interesting guest speakers from on informative topics.  There is also a clothing exchange for patients transitioning down through sizes during their weight loss phase.
